2008 SEYMOUR HELLER AWARDS PRESENTATION
On September 23rd , three hundred talent managers, casting directors, and agents gathered at the Sportsmen's Lodge in Sherman Oaks, CA for the 7th Annual Seymour Heller Awards.
The event was sponsored by HBO, Breakdown Services, The Hollywood Reporter, and Children In Film. Eleven awards were presented including the Seymour Heller Lifetime Achievement Award which was bestowed upon the Heller family as a tribute to the late talent manager, Seymour Heller ( 1914- 2001) for his lifetime service to the field of talent management.
Additional honors included the first Pat McQueeney Award which was presented to Micheal Cushman of Creative Entertainment Group for his outstanding service to the Talent Managers Association, and the Talent Manager of the Year Award which was given to Paul Caplan-Bennett of PB Management for excellence and service to the TMA. |
The evening began with a hosted cocktail hour and silent auction which enabled talent managers, casting directors, and agents to mix and mingle, and in some cases meet one another in person for the first time. The verve in the room was energized, and laughter and chatter filled the venue in anticipation of the awards to come. Comedian, Jimmy Pardo, emceed the show while entertaining the crowd with his witty delivery; and a short video clip about the life of Seymour Heller was shown after which his wife, Billie, graciously and humbly accepted the award on behalf of her late husband. It was a historical moment, and one the audience shared as they reflected on the philosophy of a legendary man dedicated to the well being of his clients. |
Recognition was also given to casting directors and agents for their outstanding work and excellence in cooperation with Talent Managers in the following 8 categories: |
